The Salento

Salento is a peninsula in the middle of two seas, a land hot and stoned, covered by a strong green mantle of secular olive trees. In this extreme land of Europe, between knotty tree trunks, stonewalls, prickly pears, fig tree and rural silences appear, as if by magic, splendid symbols of rural architecture, like as old manor farms and haystacks.

Sweet in the climate, luxuriant in the ground, attractive in the landscape, appealing in its matchless kitchen. Salento, with its seasides and its scrubs splendidly sun exposed, perfumed of myrtle, it's rich of old rites and legends, the last connection ring between the East and West cultures.

Lecce, Santa Maria di Leuca, Otranto, Gallipoli are the treasure cities of this land red and prolific: its mediterranean fruits, its vegetables, its pottage have unic tastes.

Here even the thousand-year stones and the olive trees, with their roots that sink endless, have, like all us, their story to narrate, but only to who can understand a simple but universal language. If we learn to listen them, their matchless and discreet wisdom will provide us the privilege to create and think quietly a "logos" profound of things in front of a reality that feeds slowly from our personal feeling that will make us more glad.

This is the big present that you'll remember after your holiday in Salento!
